The Skin, muscles, fat, connective tissues, glands and tear ducts can become
abnormal in function or appearance due to aging, trauma/injury/infection,
scarring, skin disease & eye disease. Medical or surgical treatment can
improve the function or appearance in these cases.
COMMON EYELID DISEASES OR PROBLEMS:
Ptosis
Droopy Eyelids may be caused by aging, diabetes, smoking, suntanning, allergens, eye diseases requiring the use of eye drops (Glaucoma, Uveitis) and other diseases that cause eyelid swelling (Thyroid Disease or Kidney & Liver Disease). Repair improves vision and appearance.
Ectropion
Ectropion is the outward turning of the lower eyelids. This can cause exposure of the eyes to air & irritants & poor flow of tears through tear ducts causing excessive tearing or mucous build up. Repair protects the eye & reduces the risk of tearing, mucous, infection, scarring & blindness.
Entropion
Entropion is the inward turning of the lower eyelids. The skin and eyelashes damage the eyes by rubbing against them. Repair reduces the risk of tearing, mucous, eye pain, infection, scarring & blindness.
Chalazion
Is a swollen blocked oil gland in the eyelid.
Eyelid Growths
Many types of eyelid growths including skin tags, warts, and cancers can
