Common Eye Diseases :: Overview
OVERVIEW

Please keep in mind that vision is a complex system that includes the eyes, the optic nerves, the brain and consciousness. The eye acts like a video camera. It takes a moving picture which becomes an electrical signal like digital cable. The signal is sent over the optic nerve to the brain which processes the image and sends it to our conscious mind which then recognizes the image as the face of a loved one. This system must be .plugged in. to work. Good circulation from the heart with blood rich in oxygen and nutrition pumping through the Carotid Arteries to the head serves as the energy source. If there is a problem with any of these systems the picture quality will be poor or lost.

The eye acts like a camera with lenses (the Cornea and the interior Lens) in front and film (the Retina) in the back. Sometimes these lenses are not adequate and glasses or contact lenses are needed to help focus light on the retina. If something happens to the lenses or the film, a good picture won.t be produced.

The optic nerve will not carry a good signal from the eye to the brain if it is damaged. The Optic Nerve is like the spinal cord . if it is damaged or cut . it will suffer some or total permanent damage.

The brain is a processing center for the picture. A brain tumor, aneurysm, stroke, or other circulation problem that causes brain damage will result in visual problems.

Our consciousness is vital to .seeing. the image that is produced by this beautiful visual system. Altered states of consciousness can impair vision.

The heart, Carotid Arteries and the general health effects he circulation to the visual system. Poor circulation, high or low blood sugar, high or low blood pressure, clogged arteries, blood clots and cholesterol plaques will prevent proper functioning of the visual organs.

As you read the descriptions of the different disease processes remember this information!
